How to choose

The battery itself is only half the system. The installation determines the result.

Do you already have solar?

Powerwall 3 and SigenStor carry their own solar inverter. The Sungrow SBR and SBH are DC batteries with no inverter of their own, so each works alongside a separate one.

Powerwall 3 and SigenStor suit a new system, or one where the inverter is being replaced at the same time. Whether a Sungrow SBR or SBH needs an inverter change depends on the inverter you already have.

How much do you need to store?

Three factors determine savings outcomes: daytime solar exports, evening and overnight electricity use, and the structure of your energy tariff.

We assess real bills and real data. We don’t estimate.

Single phase or three phase?

Powerwall 3 is single phase. SigenStor is published in single phase and three phase versions. The Sungrow SBR and SBH datasheets do not state a phase.

What has to stay on in a blackout?

Backup performance depends entirely on system design. In most homes, backup is designed to support essential circuits such as lighting, refrigeration, internet and selected power points.

Whole home backup depends on electrical loads, switchboard configuration and homeowner priorities.

Why do I need battery storage?

Essentially, the battery acts as a reservoir, holding onto direct current (DC) electricity and releasing it as needed to meet energy demands.
